PLANNING APPLICATION

Once submitted, you will be able to view the planning application online.

The proposals:

bullet To extend the existing Woodsford Quarry into land allocated for mineral extraction – The North East Extension.
bullet The life of the extension is estimated to be 14 years including preparation and restoration.
bullet Restoration will follow the phasing of the site, no material or waste to be imported.
bullet The area to be extracted is around 65 hectares and will yield in region of three million tonnes of mineral.
bullet Sand and gravel will be dug using a loading shovel and transported by field conveyors taking it back to the existing processing plant reducing noise, dust and use of fossil fuels.
bullet Maintaining mineral activities in the area will maintain around 50 jobs directly plus additional work to other local businesses. It is estimated that Woodsford Quarry contributes £1.6 million to the national and local economy annually.

Special considerations:

bullet The site has been designed to work within existing field boundaries so hedges and trees will be retained.
bullet The restoration proposed will introduce a wide range of new habitats giving substantial gain to the wider environment, as well as including productive agricultural land.
